Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode

My laptop is slow or does not respond at all. This was a gift several years ago. I'm wondering how can I begin to troubleshoot.  even when I try to restart or close, it does not respond.  I have to physically close the laptop.

It has  128 GB M.2 SSD. After few years, most likely it is full. Can you get in to it now ? You have to delete files (and Empty the recycle bin) to make room for it to work
