Hi:

If your notebook came with 1 x 4 GB of DDR4-3200 MHz, you can add an 8 GB DDR4-3200 CL22 memory chip in the second slot and have 12 GB working in single channel mode with no problems.

Plug and play.

In order for the memory to run in dual channel mode, you have to install either 2 x 4 GB or 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Hi:

See chapter 1 of the maintenance and service guide for the memory upgrade information:

HP 15s-eq1000 Laptop PC (1E870AV) - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support

The notebook has two memory slots and can support 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200 CL22 memory.
