I am experiencing the same issue with one of these notebooks. It only started happening after an update and we have had a HP tech onsite 3 times trying to fix it and they are saying they cant. Have you had any luck resolving this problem?

Same here, Display Jumps every 10-15 Seconds a few Lines up, already had a System Freeze, and i think it was the Result of this "flickering".
Anyone with ideas, all Common Steps already taken (Except for the onsite Tech)

Uninstalled the lastest driver from the device manager as well as checking the options for deleting the driver. Installed software with driver 8.17.12.6128, date of 12/04/2010. This seems to have stopped the flickering.
Will not update this driver as it seems to work with with the old driver. Sometimes older is better!

Had same problem (flickering display on resume after sleep mode or display off mode ) with Elitebook 8440p, Nvidia NVS3100M (purchased in april 2011), and Elitebook 8460p (purchased in april 2012)
Have tried several "solutions", drivers, OS: Win7, WinXP, Win8, Linux

The workaround (disable sleep and auto-screen switch off) described here works:

here is a sloution,, it worked for me,,
once you get a chance and it has cleared out,,
right click on an empty space on your desktop and select graphhics properties,,
select the basic mode,,,
select ok.
change the refresh rate from 60hz to 40hz
and apply and ok
your problem will then be solved
