I wanted to upgrade from the base Ralink Wifi card that comes with the laptop and I wanted to see if I can use this card and see if I don't need to upgrade the antenna. Here is the link to the Wifi card: https://www.amazon.com/AX210HMW-Wireless-Interface-Tri-Band-Bluetooth/dp/B0C559XB9L?source=ps-sl-sho...

Your notebook has a BIOS whitelist which blocks the installation of any other model Wi-Fi card from working other than the Ralink one.

Your only option for a Wi-Fi upgrade is to use a dual band USB Wi-Fi adapter.

Is there any way to remove the whitelisting?

None that I know of.

There is a BIOS mod site where folks have reportedly done work like that, so check with that site.

The question: has anyone modified the BIOS for the g7-1000 model series?

Had your notebook not had a BIOS whitelist, the card you posted may have worked.

I installed this one in my HP 350 G1, upgrading the Intel 7260AC Wi-Fi card I had originally upgraded to from the Broadcom card HP installed.

I don't know what that metal plate they include is used for.  I just swapped out the card.

I like that it came with additional screws that I can use for M.2 SSD's when PC's don't come with the hold down screws.

They look like they will fit perfectly.

I knew the notebook didn't have a BIOS whitelist since I had upgraded the card previously and the AX210 works great.

An 11-year-old notebook with an Intel AX210.

Who would have thought?
