Hi everyone!

Some days ago, after a Windows 10 update, my wireless connection stopped to work. I checked Device Manager and found that the wi-fi adapter, Ralink RT3090, was no more visible; then I found it and discovered the "code error 45".

I tried to update the driver, then I run through Windows Powershell, in order: SFC scan, DISM scan, no use. I've used also troubleshooting manager in Update and Security, no use again.

I tried to uninstall the wi-fi adapter but now the system cannot find it anymore.

I need help. Thanks for your device.

Hi:

The  Ralink RT3090 wifi adapter disappears from the device manager on the newer builds of W10.

Unfortunately there is no fix for the problem.  It's been happening for a few years now on all the Ralink models.

Your options would be to:

Reinstall W7 or purchase a USB wifi adapter.

They make some nano-size ones nowadays that hardly stick out of the USB port.

This one for example, is a combination dual band AC wifi with Bluetooth wifi adapter.

JILM USB Wifi Dongle, USB Wifi Bluetooth Adapter 600 Mbps Dual Band 2.4 / 5GHz Mini Wireless Network...

There are some reviews for it on the US Amazon website.

Thanks a lot Paul. I've been hoping to find  a solution that will make the adapter start working again but I know my notebook is old.

I'll check your suggested solution.

See you
