HP Pavilion G6
Windows 7 64-bit
When using the laptop after sleep mode, the network access is:
a) slow to restore (60 seconds),
b) requires manual reconnecting,
c) only comes back at half the signal strength or,
d) tells me that Windows is unable to reconnect to my network.
If the latter, then I need to power recycle my network access point to restore network access.
My other notebook pcs -- Windows 7 and Windows XP - don't have this problem, nor does my smartphone.
Also, when I move the laptop back to the wireless router location, I have to manually disconnect/connect and then do this again when I return to the access point area.

Since HP support's "solution" was to perform a system recovery, which would cause me considerable lost time in restoring applications, I finally gave up and bought a D-Link USB network adaptor and bypassed the HP internal wireless device.

Thank you for replying so fast. How annoying that HP doesn't have a real solution - a system restore is not really an option for me too, since I also installed a lot of software, and I doubt it will even solve the problem...

Hi,
This looks like a issue with the settings. Please follow the below steps
1) Press Windows Key + R and type devmgmt.msc in the Run dialog box to open Device Manager.
2) In the Device Manager window, expand Network Adapters and look for your WiFi driver, do a right click over it, select Properties.
3. In the property sheet, switch to Power Management tab and uncheck the option Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Click OK
4) restart the machine to get your issue fixed.
Hope this Helps

Hi Arick,
Thanks for taking the time to reply. This thread is five years old however and though I still have and use the laptop, I don't experience the problem anymore. I cannot remember how and when I solved the issue, but I notice the option 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' is unchecked so that might have been the problem. Or not. I can't remember.
I do appreciate that you took the time to post a possible solution, even though it is a bit to late to find out if that was indeed what was causing the problem.
Kind regards, Marlies
