Compaq dc 5700 Microtower proccesor upgrade

Good Morning; I have a HP Compaq dc5700 Microtower with a Intel DualCore 32-bits 1.8GHz processor, i want to upgrade it to any type of 64-Bits processor, like a Dual or Quad-core 64 bits processor, or a i3 or i5 Intel processor, so i can upgrade it from  3 Gib ddr2 Ram to 8 Gib ddr2 Ram, Can i do that?

The list of supported processors can be found on pages 7 and 8.

No intel io series processors will work. No quad cores will work.

There are some other E7xxx series processors that will work if you update the BIOS to its latest version but IMO, it is not worth the hassle because the multiplier is only half of what it should be.

If you have an Intel E6xxx series processor installed now, you can run a 64 bit operating system.

So, in conclusion is not worth to do that... i will keep it like that until i can buy another motherboard... thanks for the information.

Finally, which mother board do you recommend for placing a i3 or i5 processor with at least 8 or 12 gib ddr3 ram?

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't know anything about modifying a business desktop PC.

There are too many proprietary parts.

They are all I own, and when I want newer hardware, I just buy newer off lease HP business desktops or notebooks on eBay.

You might want to look into a used HP 8000, 8100 or 8200 Elite CMT.

They will probably cost you the same amount of money as buying a newer motherboard, processor, etc.
