Hello,

I have connected an adapter to my DP+ port that adapts it to HDMI but I cannot get any sound.

I have an EliteBook 2540p and have read that DP+ supports sound.

Anyone who have seen this problem and solved it?

I have the lates drivers...

yeah i had an awful time with this but its basically really easy. You just need to get into control panel/sound (basically where the speaker properties are in your system) and then right click on your computer speakers and click disable.

the sound should then start coming through your tv.

its a bit annoying to go on having to disable/enable your speakers but this is the only way i have figured out how.

🙂 hope this helped!

I will try this as soon as I get home 😄

Hi guys, I have the same problem, and am GOING CRAZY trying to figure out HOW to solve this!

I've tried going into

- Device Manager to disable/enable all the components under 'Sounds, video and Game Controllers'

- Tried Disabling 'PC Speaker' under the Volume control mixer that is accessed through the taskbar speaker icon

- Re-installing the Intel HD Audio drivers as per the support page on HP for the 2540p

and I still can't get the audio to pass through the displayport>HDMI>TV!!

Is there something I'm missing here? Even in VLC, i've tried ALL the permutations of:

Menu > Tools > Preferences > (I've done it in - click 'Show Settings = All' and also 'Simple'  in Bottom right corner) and under 'Output Modules' I've tried every single one:

- Default

- Wave32 waveOut extention output

- PORTaudio audio output

- Dummy Audio Output function

- Simple directmedia layer audio output

- DirectX audio output

(i didnt bother doing 'File Audio Output' - because that just outputs audio to a file)

Can someone please please help me? I'm begging!! 😞

Did anyone found a solution to this problem? May be the display port on this is not supporting audio? I tried disabling HP saudio in control panel like some suggested on this thread - it just disables local audio, does not really enable audio on the display port.  Is it supposed to switch audio automatically when it senses hdmi connection? What if you do not want to send audio to hdmi - there has to be some configuration some where? No one in HP TakeCare knows about this?

Set your computer to HDMI output where an picture of an television shows, and hit apply settings! Should have audio coming though your Television.

That should take care of your issue.

How do you "Set your computer to HDMI output"? My Control->Sound menu shows only HP Speakers and Headphone no HDMI or S/PDIF.  When I change display to external monitor, laptop reconizes the TV with correct model # but still no sound, only video on TV.

Dont know if this an problem for anyone anymore

When I connect my 2540p to my receiver with hdmi via an dp-adapter the receiver shows as an option under Control Panel -> Sounds. If I then set the receiver as default I get audio via the dp. When I unhook my 2540p from the receiver it does not show as an option.

Be aware that there are HDMI to DP adapters that only transfer video and no audio. Anyhow you need to see the tv or receiver you are hooking up to your 2540p as an option under "Sounds" for audio to work. So if you get an new option under Sounds you probably have an faulty adapter.

Also know that you need the latest GRAPHICS driver aswell. This since it is the INTEL HD driver that delivers the sounds thru the dp.
