I bought a HP 630 notebook product  number: IH382EA#BH5

It came with Linux as an operating system and I then upgraded it to Windows 7 Starter 32 bit and for some reason the upgrade erased the wireless/ethernet drivers.

I've downloaded and tried to use Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Driver for Microsoft Windows and also the Wireless Assistant and followed the installation directions. The driver is still not working and I cannot connect to the internnet through wiresless. I'm not the best at using computers but I need wireless and I need help.

Any suggestions?

Hi:

Please go to your device manager, and click on the missing network controller needing the drivers.

Then click on the details tab. In the Properties drop down list, select the second item. Post the top string of characters you see in the window.

Those will identify the model network card you have, and I can send you the link to the drivers.

Well it says I'm missing 'Ethernet Controller' 'Network Controller' 'PCI Device' and the 'PCI Simple Communcations Controller'And I'm not really sure which once is the important one so I will give you all of them.

The Network controller it's:

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_1461103C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&SUBSYS_1461103C
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_002B&CC_0280

For the Ethernet Controller it's:

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_3674103C&REV_06
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_3674103C
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&CC_020000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&CC_0200

For the PCI Controller it's:

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5209&SUBSYS_3674103C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5209&SUBSYS_3674103C
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5209&CC_FF0000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5209&CC_FF00

For the PCI Simple Communications Controller it's:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_3674103C&REV_06
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_3674103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&CC_078000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&CC_0780

Thank you!

Hi:

We should be able to get you all set up and running in a snap...

First, install the chipset driver and reboot.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...

Next, install the IMEI driver (for the last device ID you posted).

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...

You have the Atheros wireless network adapter.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...

You have the Realtek wired network adapter.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...

You have the Realtek card reader:

That should do it!

PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&CC_0280

PCI simple communications controller

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_3674103C&REV_06
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_3674103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&CC_078000

I have downloaded and installed both files, but when i check the device manager, its still showing that the network controller is missing drivers

A second thing is that the F12 wireless key is not responding when i press it, nothing is happening but its just red meaning its turned off, and i dont have the HP wireless assisstant software

Hi:

I'm very sorry, I posted the wrong network driver above.

I posted the driver for the Realtek wired LAN rather than the wireless one you need.

This will take care of it for you for sure.
