When i'm looking at a video on youtube (not just youtube) and I put it on full screen about three minutes later it goes back to the regular size unless I just keep moving the mouse around. It does this with Firefox, Chrome, etc.

Hi angel47baby,

Welcome to the HP forum!

Thank you for your query, I will assist you the best I can.

I understand that when you put your video on full screen, it automatically switches back to the regular screen  after about 3 minutes, unless you move the mouse around. It is the same with more then one browser.

I would suspect that you have a power management plan enabled. I would suggest setting it to high performance while viewing videos.  This will drain the battery quicker if it is not plugged in.  Power Management Windows 7.

If that did not resolved the problem I would try this

Open to the command prompt.

Type in msconfig and press enter ( brings you to system configuration)

Click on the services  tab

Check the box, hide all Microsoft services

Click on the Startup tab and disable all

Exit out

Try playing your video now, if it plays without issues then go back into system configuration and start enable

some of the startup items and replay the video. You are trying to determine if a program running in the background, is causing the issue, by the process of elimination.  If it did not change anything, be sure you go back and enable all your startup items.

If none of this has resolved the difficulty then it may be malware that is  causing it.  If that is the case I would suggest you do a backup of your system and a clean install of the Operating System and programs.

Here are documents on Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7) and Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7).  You can use any backup program of your choosing, it does not have to be this one.
When posting it is important to provide your exact model of computer and the Operating System you are running. It allows us to obtain specific information pertinent to you. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

Please let me know the results.

Hi angel47baby

Thank you for your reply, I regret the issue has returned.     If you open your browser ( example Internet Explorer) and open settings. Click on the advanced options, do you see Modal or retain focus as a checkable option, if so please ensure it it checked.

Have you run a virus and  malware check on your computer, as that could be the cause?  Was there a particular program that you may have opened the day the issue returned?   If you check the msconfig, do you see a program that was reactivated.

The usual cause of this, is a program running in the background .  If you are unable to determine which program is causing it, you would be looking at doing a system restore to overcome this.
