Welcome,

I have laptop HP Pavilion DV6-3040EW with wifi card Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WLAN.
I bought router ASUS RT-AC56U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1200 with super speed 867Mbps on 5GHz.
I need better wifi card in my laptop with speed 867Mbps (5GHz).

I found that mini pci-e wifi card:
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/wireless-products/dual-band-wireless-ac-7260-bluetooth.html

Can I install that wifi card Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 in my laptop?
If not please give me BIOS with unlock that card.

I have latest BIOS for this laptop: vF.29

Welcome,

I know that manual.

They are only WIFI mini-pcie modules:

* Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WLAN module

* Ralink RT3090BC4 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo Adapter
* Intel® Centrino® Advanced–N + WiMAX 6250 WLAN module - 300Mbps only
* Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 802.11b/g/n 1x2
* Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WLAN module
* Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo Adapter
* Broadcom 43225 802.11b/g/n WLAN module - 300Mbps only
* Broadcom 43224 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2 WLAN module - 300Mbps only

Max speed on that WIFI modules is 300Mbps in 5GHz mode.

I need more.

This card Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 is not included in this manual.

But I am interested to install this card.
I want to use the full speed of my router - 867Mbps in 5GHz mode.

I do not need to replace my laptop only wifi module!

DV6-3xxx support team can only unlock new wifi modules in the new version of the BIOS.

It should not be difficult.

Please read and understand. 🙂

Hi,

Intel 7260AC can't be in the manual because the manual and the laptop have been released long before the wireless card. At that time the card didn't exist and most likely even the AC standard. The only way how to get the card working on that laptop is to modify the BIOS and remove the whitelist. I was able to do that and used Intel 6200 and then 6300 on my Intel Core i7-720QM Dv6 laptop. However, it's not recommended..

To Pepe999 and others,

I have an HP DV6-1030us (with last available bios F.46) running Win7 x64 Home Premium.

I recently got an Asus Dual Band AC Router (RT-AC68W) and just got the Intel 7260 HMWG.R Wireless AC + BT 4.0 card (867Mbs) for Xmas hoping to upgrade from the oem Broadcom 4322AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi Adapter + BT 2.1 EDR (300Mbs).

It looks like this Intel 7260 Dual Band Wifi-AC card is not on the "White List" since my DV6-1030us wasn't allowed to boot and showed the error ...

 "104 - Unsupported wireless network device detected. System Halted. Remove Device and Restart."

I have already upgraded the Core2duo CPU to a 3.06Ghz, the ram to 8gb, and a 240Gb SSD. It would be very disappointing to be limited by HP's boneheaded bios listing!

Is there anyway to get HP to unlock/update the bios so I can upgrade?

 (I'm more of a hardware guy vs a coder)

 PS:

Spent all night digging around the HP Support site for drivers (Intel's was down) and realized that the HP Pro x2 612 G1 uses the same Intel 7260 Dual Band Wireless AC card we all appear to want to use and has drivers for both Win7 and Win8.  So it seems HP is aware of this card and support it on "newer' laptops. Uggh.

Any help is appreciated.
