My quick launch buttons (specifically the volume and wi-fi) keep responding when I am not even touching the bar. I would just like to disable this whole thing if possible. It has been very irritating for me. Thank you.

Hi,

If the volume and wireless touch buttons are activating by themselves, try the following as it can be caused by a build up of static in the bezel.

Shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for a full minute.  Then re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter and see if this helps the issue.

That didn't work. Thanks for the help though, David.

Hi,

I would suggest simply uninstalling HP Quick Launch Buttons, but this can sometimes cause other problems.  The following may be worth trying.

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In to the Run box type msconfig and hit enter.  In the following window, click the Start up tab, remove the tick next to the entry for HP Quick Launch Buttons and click Apply to save the change.  Restart the notebook for this change to take effect.

This worked like a charm, thanks David

Thank you so much!  This is the answer that finally fixed my problem.

My problem was that my audio volume kept sliding to the bottom.  And I was also stuck with the green "Volume" overlay, as if I was constantly pushiing the "-" on the volume button.

The battery removal followed by the long push on the power button did the trick.  Amazing!  I can't begin to tell you how much searching I did or how many things I tried before finding this obscure bit of wisdom!

Kudos, sir!  Well done!
