I have a similar problem. Last night while my laptop (HP Pavilion tx2610au) was plugged in and running fine, it suddenly just shut down and now won't start. I'm wondering if the power cord has gone bad (this has happened before). When it's plugged in, I can see a blue light flashing. When I try to turn it on, a blue light flashes on the screen. Is my computer dead or do I just need a new power cord?

Well, I came to the conclusion it's the power cord. The green light on the adapter was definitely fading in and out. This will be my 3rd cord in as many years. It seems there's planned defects in these things and they either fall apart or die in exactly one year. I won't buy one from HP though. They want $70 for them plus shipping and you only get a one year warranty. I just ordered a new one on Amazon for $14 with no shipping charge and the ratings on the cord indicate it's a better quality than HPs. Good luck with your own problem.
