Hi!
My problem is that I can't install MSXML 4.0 SP2 on my computer which I really need to be able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator X.
When i first try to install MSXML 4.0 SP2 on my laptop, everything is fine until it reaches "publishing product information". Then it says:
"An error occured during installation of assembly component
{303994BA-6487-47AE-AF1D-7AF6088EEBDB}.
HRESULT: 0x80070002."
Many people are running this game with Windows 7 Bit OS so I don't see why I shouldn't be able to when my specs fulfill all the necessary requirements to run this game?
My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6-2115so Entertainment Notebook with AMD Athlon II Dual-Core processor (2.2 GHz 1 MB L2 Cache) and ATI HD 4650 discrete 1024 MB - 1GB dedicated graphics. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium with Bit OS.
I hope that somebody can't figure out what's wrong on my laptop/with the laptop! Thanks!

See if this suggested solution works for you, report back.
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.xml.msxml-webrelease/msg/ee80be46445ca7b4
"When you attempt to install MSXML and get the error;
"An error occured during the installation of assembly component {303994BA-6487-47AE-AF1D-7AF6088EEBDB}. HRESULT: -2147024894."
Do not click OK! Leave the Installation active.
Run another instance of the MSXML Installer. It will ask if you want to remove or repair, click repair.
Then another error will occur, stating that "Another installation is in progress."
Do not click anything. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL. Go to the Applications Tab.
Now, Remember there are two Installations running so two identical programs will apear in the Applications list. You need to look for the one Second down the list, as the most recent apps appear at the top of the list and we want to kill the first one.
We you find the Second installation down the list, right click on it and select End Task
Now press Try Again on the existing installation. It will complete successfully. Press close and enjoy your game!
(If you still get an error when you run your game, stating that MSXML is not installed, just run the installation one more time. It will successfully install first time every time from now on.) "

Thanks for that! It seems like it has been installed but i forgot about one more thing during the installation of Microsoft Flight Simulator X. When i try to install the game it come's up with an error which says:
"Error 1935. An error occured during installation of assembly component.
'Microsoft.VC80.OpenMP.type="win32.version="8.0.50727.42".publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b".processorArchitecture=
"x86'".
I don't know why this shows up but i have an idea about what's causing it - Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2005 maybe? Don't know if it's inappropriate for this topic but any help would certainly be appreciated!

None of this works either. While attempting the first solution i get this error while trying to install the SimConnect:
An error occured during installation of assembly component
'Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect.version="10.0.60905.0".type="win32".processorArchitecture="x86".publicKeyToken="

Indeed Microsoft Flight Simulator X is an old software released back in 2006 and the team is currently working on a new game called Microsoft Flight that will be compatible with Windows 7. But Microsoft Flight Simulator X is compatible with Windows 7. Maybe my laptop is too new to be able to play this game so i guess there isn't much more that could solve the problem, in fact nothing. Anyway thanks for helping me so much!
