Hey I have two hp dv6500 and dv6000 and both have a malfunctioning optical drives that quit within a week of one another. The keyboard goes in and out of the dv6000 and now the sound has quit working on the dv6500. Even when the device was under warranty they never fixed the problems! I am starting to think I may never buy another HP again is all I can say!

I have two hp laptops and both have the non functioning optical drives in which when they were under warranty could not be repaired. The keyboard goes in and out at tiems so you cant even punch in a password....Now the other one has decided to detect no audio device... I think this is a sign of faulty workmanship! I have pretty much lost faith in HP to do anything for me again. I have tried several different solutions so if anyone has a new solution please inform me..... i am at this point leary of ever purchasing another HP product ever again!

No doubt. I wondered about the solved thing when I saw no solution to your issue but then again they put me through tht emill witht there normal little process but of course nothing has worked as of yet. From the sounds of it we are not the only people who seem to be having problems with Hp products. I think I am going to purchase another brand this time also!

Is there really no solution to this No audio Output Device red cross issue?
As many other people, it must be thousands of people, accross HP forum threads, that have tried all the possbile software changes, systems adjustments and driver updates - but still there has not been a sucessful universal solution?
Has anyone had an efffective help from a HP technical person?

Honestly I believe there is no solution. Our family have other HP products and their customer service has been of no help. I finally gave up on the two non-working computers I own and purchased a new Sony with hopes that it will actually pay for itself in reliable use unlike my HP laptop 😞 Best of luck though!

I have had this problem for months.
The answer is save up and buy a new laptop BUT never buy HP ever again.
Truely a bad company and product.
I bought my daughter a Lenovo, Excellent. I use Lenovo for work.
It gets docked and undocked, carried around, knocked, bounced everyday.
It never complains and never lets me down.
Lenovo, excellent quality.
HP = crap

I too gave away my HP and it started to fail, part by part, First the sound card, then the CD rom and then it just would not start. I bought a Dell laptop, and just today got rid of my HP Desktop and Monitor for something that performs. Never again HP
