HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ae0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

a couple of months ago, the speakers on my HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ae0xx stopped working.  The headphone jack (using the same Realtek High Definition Audio SST driver) works fine. As a musician working from home during the lockdown this was not very problematic because I could use my audio interface and studio speakers instead. But now, getting back to working outside next week, it's something I need fixed ASAP.

I decided to wait until some new update or new driver, but the problem has not been addressed. It's not a driver issue, I believe, because I have tried many - including the new one from April 2020. At the moment, I have rolled back to version 6.0.8703.1 because I know for sure if worked before.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Óscar

Hi again,

Just wanted to add another important piece of information:

If the headphones are plugged in, meaning sound is coming through them, if I disconnect them, sometimes the speakers will become active and actually play sound, for a random duration, between 1 and 10 seconds. And they sound fine and at the correct volume. After that, they will suddenly stop.

Thanks again,

Ó

@WalkingMetaphor Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are facing issues with audio.

Try updating the computer, this will install the latest updates -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Please uninstall the audio drivers and reinstall the drivers. Also, update the BIOS.

Hi @Praveen196

I had done all of these things before but, nevertheless, did them all again, except for the audio driver - it's not supported and I got the following message:

It didn't help. The problem still stands.

I can hear perfectly from the computer's headphone jack. I can use my audio interface. I can ever use an internal audio router (which I have been using for years). But the speakers don't work. Sometimes - just sometimes - when I unplug the audio jack, the speakers suddenly work.

Any ideas on what to try next?

Thanks,

Ó

In that case, I would suggest you perform the system reset.

Have a nice day!!
