Has anyone found a definite fix for this yet?

With the help of hp tech support i have:

-Updated/ reinstalled the touchpad drivers

-updated bios

-everything else is up todate

Now they want me to send in the PC but I really dont think this will help until they look at another update.

Has anyone sent in there pc?

ouch... send it in.  Yea they aren't going to fix anything.  If anything they might put you back on windows 8 / factory reset your laptop.  This issue with touch pads / mice is a known issue by Microsoft.  There are many laptops out there that suffered this issue due the pre-release and even after the official release of windows 8.1.  The only difference between us and everyone else is the computer MFG actually released new drivers to fix these issues.  HP and Synaptics need to take care of this.  It is absolutely a software / driver issue.  Some people have reported good results with the fix I have posted and others have had so so results.

Hey everyone, I had the same issue. Had the computer home a few days no issues, few minutes after upgrading to Windows 8.1 the touchpad started to act up. I see everyone uses the same temporary fix by removing the keyboard from the screen then re docking it. This is really unacceptable that it has been months and no patch, driver update or other fix has been found by either HP or Microsoft.

Thanks. Ive been having the same problem for weeks and thats the easiest solution so far.

I also have this issue with my HP split x 2.  I do know how to make the touchscreen function again, temporary.

Control panel, device manager, mice and other pointing devices, Synaptics HID Touchpad, select driver tab, click Disable, and then enter to Enable again.

Works for a bit.  I too am looking for a permanent fix to this annoying problem.

this worked for me.

Go to Generic USB Hub (both of them) in Device Manager.

Go to the Power Management tab

Uncheck the box about allowing the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Restart.

My touch pad had stopped while searching for a solution on this forum. I "unchecked " the boxes and the touchpad came bacxk to life before the restart. It has been working ever since. (three days)

Also worked for me, Thanks!!

The generic hub power management checkbox is working well for me so far.  Two days without a touchpad freeze.  Thank you.  Time for HP to post this solution on the Split X2 info page.  They don't even have to upload a driver file!

Confirmed working for me as well! Kudos ricthemenotyou!
