Thank you for that really quick response, it worked!
I forgot my login password and dont have a microsoft account to change it, so Ive been trying to use the Hirens Boot system to reset the password. Do you have any online tutorial recommendations wthat are easy to follow for a non Computer Scientist?? I downloaded the Hirons softwear onto a flashdrive and trying to tell my computer to read it, but it's not working.
Alternatively, would reseting my computer be a lot easier? I know this will remove all my files and apps, and I dont mind because it's a new computer.
thanks again!

Hi,
You're welcome
As this is a new computer, I would guess it shipped with Windows 8 or 8.1 - if that's correct, you need to change a setting in the bios menu in order to be able to boot from external media.
Shutdown the notebook.
Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Start-up Menu and then select the Bios Menu ( f10 ).
Under the System Configuration tab, expand the Boot Options Menu.
You need to set Secure Boot to Disabled and Legacy Devices to Enabled.
When done, press f10 and select to save the changes.
You may then have to enter a 4 digit pin displayed on the screen to confirm the setting changes - enter the code and hit enter.
Insert the flash drive and Shutdown the notebook.
Tap away at the esc key as soon as you press the power button to enter the Start-up Menu and then select the Boot Options Menu ( f9 ).
Use the arrow keys to highlight the flash drive (uefi) option and hit enter.

Alternatively, if you wish to reset the notebook, there are Three main ways to restore your notebook to its 'Factory Condition' - see the document on the link below.
