I feel like an idiot--I decided to fix my webcam issues by uninstalling all my drivers, then finding them to reinstall them.  The first part went well, the latter not so much.

If someone could help me find the drivers for the integrated webcam on an HP Pavilion dv6t-1200 and help me get them installed, I would really, really appreciate it.  Thanks!

Hi,

From the Control Panel, click Device Manager, click the arrow next to Imaging Devices.  Right click the HP Webcam and select Properties.  Click the Driver tab and then click on update driver.  If this works, reboot the PC.  If this doesn't work, try clicking Roll Back Driver.

Let me know how you get on.

Best wishes,

Haha, part of the problem is that even "Imaging Devices" has vanished from my Device Manager.

Hi,

Try installing the MediaSmart Webcam software to see if this detects the device.

Windows 7

Windows Vista

I run it and get "No Webcam Detected," and it asks me to make sure my integrated webcam is turned on.

Hi,

If you go back to Device Manager, click on the View tab and select 'Show hidden devices' does anything show up as Unknown Device?

Yeah, I got one under "other devices."  Think that's it?

Hi,

It could well be.  Try clicking on update driver.  First choose the automatic option but if that doesn't work choose 'Browse my computer for driver software' then choose 'let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer'.  If one shows up click on it and install.  If nothing shows up go back to the page 'Browse my computer for driver software', click the browse button and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\usbvideo.sys and install this.

Let me know how it goes.

Yeah...can't find any drivers.

Hi,

Does this file not appear if you just browse your Hard Drive?

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\usbvideo.sys
