I'm running Windows 7 on HP Envy 14 and I need to boot from my recovery disk.  I can get to the startup menu via pressing ESC but I need to select the command prompt to enter some commands and I don't see Command Prompt in any of the available options on the startup menu.

Please, will someone help?   Thanks!

DP-K,

I found what I was doing wrong with the boot, and definitely saw the screen you attached and the command prompt.  Thank you for responding so quickly and attaching the screen shot so that I knew what I was supposed to be seeing.

Have a great day.  :generic:

Hi,

Tap away at f8 as you start the notebook to enter Windows Recovery Console and you should see an option to choose the command prompt here.

Another option is to access the command prompt by booting from a Windows 7 Rescue CD.

If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Recovery CD.  Download the relevant ISO from the links below.

Windows 7 32bit

Windows 7 64bit

You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  Once created, or if you already have this, insert the CD and restart to boot from it.

Hi,

Strange, you're not seeing a menu like the one Here?

Try pressing f10 at the first screen.
