a key came off my laptop when i was dusting it. i can't figure out how to get it back on

There is a small plastic retainer that helps keep the cap (key) attached to the keyboard. Make sure it's still aligned correctly and then press the key down until it locks back in. This should work for most people..if not, let us know - You could have a different type of keyboard. This is a link to a YouTube clip showing the general process.
