I have model dv4-1428dx with same issues except scroll and cap lock lights only blink once and external monitor does not work either. I have had two HP laptops fail within two weeks. the other is dv6636nr and it does not power on, however the front lights flash a couple of times while holding down power button then stop until you release power button and push again. Am also very frustrated with HP. I had a desktop die a couple of months ago.

My screen did the same thing! Both my keys are flashing simultaneously. This problem occured nine days after my warranty expired and my laptop was only 2 years old!!!! Not to mention I had an older HP pavilion a few years ago that did the same thing. Guess it is time for me to switch to Apple.

I had this same issue with my G-series laptop but it was out of warranty by the time it failed completely. I too took my display apart and found the same problem with the wireing going thru the hinge. The wiring had a "slice" thru it from opening a closing the display.
Now I am having this same problem with my pavilion dv6-6113cl and had to go through loops to get them to issue repair order. We only purchased this laptop last July !

When I turn on my pavilion HP laptop, it seems to do all the ususal start up procedures, but the display never turns on.
Over the last week I've able to get it to respond by doing a force quit and then turning it on again.
But now this is not helping...
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
