- Wireless Network Issues
Hey everyone,
Hope you're all doing great! 😁
It has come to our attention that some of you have been facing issues about wireless network on your pc’s, specially laptops. Therefore, here are some tips that might be useful:
✔️ Check the wireless signal
- Locate the wireless key or button. This could be an image of an airplane or a wireless signal.
- Press the button once, wait 10 seconds, and then observe any changes to the wireless connection icon in the notification area and to the LED light on the wireless button or key. If the button or key does not have a light, hover your mouse over the wireless connection icon in the notification area of the taskbar to see the current connection status.
If the wireless signal turns on: Connect to the internet again.
If the wireless signal is turned off: Press the button or key again, and then try to connect to the internet again.
Attention: Some newer modems or routers provide 5Ghz network, and some older devices might not be compatible with those kind of network, so they are not able to find the network.
✔️ Always keep your drivers updated
To update the Wireless Network drivers you can use the device manager, follow the steps bellow:
- In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
- In the list of devices, select Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click the wireless adapter, select Update driver, and then follow the instructions to install the updated driver.
- Restart the computer to complete installation of the updates.
✔️ Use wireless troubleshooting tools
You can also use automatic tools to test and fix a variety of wireless conditions.
- HP Support Assistant:
- In Windows, search for and open HP Support Assistant
If the app is not installed on your computer, download the latest version from the HP Support Assistant website.
- Select your computer, and then select HP Network Check under Troubleshooting and Fixes.
- Click Next, and then wait for the tool to complete. If the diagnostic test finds one or more issues, continue with these steps.
- Under Possible Root Causes, click the listed possible cause, select a recommended action, and then follow the instructions.
- After completing the recommended actions, click Re-check.
- Repeat these steps until the network connectivity issue is resolved or all possible root causes and repairs have completed.
- Windows Network and Internet Troubleshooter
- In Windows, right-click the network connection icon, and then select Troubleshoot problems.
- Wait while the Windows Network Diagnostic analyzes the network connection. If prompted, select the type of network problem, and then follow the instructions to resolve the issue.
- Review any information that displays about problems found, what was fixed, or actions you can take to resolve the problems.
- Complete any suggested actions.
Hope those steps helped you out! 😉

Starting today April 26, 2021 my HP Office Jet Pro 8710 will not connect to the internet wirelessly. I did not change anything from yesterday when it was working fine. The printer won't recognize the Router's WiFi Password. The test results states "the WPA security passphrase configured on the HP printer does not match the wireless router setting." The internet provider checked that all is working on their end and all other devices at home that use wireless are working. I tried updating firmware but it won't update. I deleted and reinstalled the printer, still won't connect wirelessly. I'm on a MAC OS Mojave 10.14.6 Please Help!!

i have run off endless configuration pages but I don’t actually know what I am looking for to see if there is an error. Help.

I used Printer/scanner doctor and my printer test passes all steps and gives me to test print or skip but scanner test fails on driver check (in red) giving two options to start computer or skip. I selected skip and passes rest of the steps and allows me to test scan or skip at end of test. I selected to test scan; it opened window to select wifi connection to connect the scanner. New window opens to scan. I put a document on glass to scan and select the button to scan. Scanner fails to make connection and displays new window as "Scanner Unreachable". I am using Windows Firewall software which is On by allowing list of App in the list checked for Private connection. My HP Officejet Pro 85ooA is All in One where the list shows box checked for "Printer", "Fax", and "Copy" but does not include "Scanner". When I selected Scan button during Scan Test, scanner never initialized the drivers to start the Scanner. I am looking for experts recommendations to fix this issue. Is there a software or hardware issue? I was able to scan until March 2021 but have not been able to scan since. I completely remover all HP software/programs using Control Panel and downloaded new software and drivers from HP website and still can not scan but can print. I do not use Fax or copy features.

I have a Deskjet 2640, for the longest time I couldn't figure out why it would randomly stop connecting to the internet. What I found out when the printer goes into the sleep mode it shuts off the WifI radio on the printer and will not restart the radio when it comes out of the sleep mode. Is there a fix for this? I have tried rebooting, all the software is up to date. I'm at a loss.

@JustB_66, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I understand you are trying to connect the printer to the wireless network. Let us try these steps:
Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the Mac
On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings
Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.
- Make sure the printer and the Mac are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
- If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.
- The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold the option key on your keyboard and click the WiFi icon to get detailed information.
- Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'.
Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.
Perform a ping test to check the connectivity
- Obtain the IP address of the printer by clicking on the Wireless icon on the printer
- On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
- Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
- Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost
- Note: There should be 0% packet loss, share the results in your next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
