HP LaserJet Pro 400 color MFP M475dw

Hello, I've gone through a wide range of posts in this forum and have not found an answer that correctly addresses my issue.

My HP LaserJet Pro 400 color MFP M475dw continuously gives me the error 'Jam in Tray 1'. I've tried replacing the roller wheels that roll paper through, I've taken apart my machine, I tried searching for a sensor that may be blocked but cannot seem to find the issue (I've also cleaned various points in the printer carefully). It's a shame since this printer is in brand new condition and has worked fabulously up until now.

Does anyone have any ideas? Does anyone know any sensor locations that specifically might be causing this error? Is there a way to override the error so I can print things?
Thanks!

It is most likely a failed sensor not a stuck one. Remove the paper tray, tilt printer on one side and you will see a flag in the tray one paper path. You need to find another optical sensor to replace it. A lot of products use the same unit. Find a scrap laser printer to cannibalize

Hello, I took a look at my printer and wanted to confirm I am looking at the right thing.

This is a view with the printer upside down looking up towards the tray 1 (with it closed).

Do you know any websites or places off hand I can get a replacement one for cheaper? Thanks!

I need to look at one of  the units in our shop to confirm. Will post back tomorrow. As far as sourcing, not sure, I am blessed with a pretty much endless supply when we harvest old printers.

Thank you so much! Let me know.

I am not sure if the 476 and 475 are identical but on the 476 it is further back as per my photo. I also checked the 475 service guide but it does not show these sensors at all.

Yes it is similar. I tried cleaning out the sensor, but no luck. I'd love to replace it just don't know where to look- do you have any ideas? Where do you get your scraps from (eBay?).

Also, do you have a shop in the US (NJ)? It would be easier to bring it to you 😊

Any ideas?
Thanks again for your continued support.

The spring I have circled does not look right but photo is not clear when I zoom in. If bent then it is not providing proper tension on the flag
