  • I'd like to print a baby diary on my HP Deskjet 2130 all-in-one printer. The pages of the diary should have a custom size of 21 x 42 cm. Can I print on sheets with such dimensions?

(There's no such paper format, I will cut the sheets manually.)

Thanks.

Printer Specifications for HP DeskJet 1110, 2130 Printers

Supported custom sizes

To avoid paper jams and other issues when printing on nonstandard custom paper sizes, make sure that the dimensions fall within the parameters listed in the following table.
note:
Custom-sized media are only supported in Mac OS X.
Paper size
89 x 127 mm (3.5 to 5.0 in) to 216 x 279 mm (8.5 to 11.0 in)

General Note:

Small paper can be more difficult to load and print than is standard paper.

If you can do so,

Consider constructing your document page(s) to fit on the size paper you want,

Print on regular sized paper - A4 or Letter depending on your region (location on the planet).

After the print is complete, use a decent paper cutter to cut the paper to size.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

In fact, the custom paper is as wide as A4 and about 12 cm longer than the length of A4. What could happen if I try to print on it?

You are welcome.

If the length of the paper exceeds the supported paper size, the printer will likely balk, jam, fail to print at all, or throw an error, possibly about a paper size mis-match.

Sure - in this case, you need to cut the paper to meet the criteria -- supported paper size -- of the printer.

There is not a way around the printer paper size limitations -- the mechanics are not aware of what you want, only what the printer can do.

Perhaps print your document on regular paper, then carefully attach the printed sheet to your special paper.

If done right, the workaround might even look deliberate.

For example, print on paper that the printer likes,

Tape the printed sheet to the fancy paper - surround the taped sheet with a fancy border, scalloped edging paper, or drawings.

Not all printers are restricted to the extent that they will not print on longer paper.

Your printer is not the best tool for this "longer paper" job.
