Dear Support : I would say 'thanks' just for good manners, but HP is not deserving polite treatments, sorry.

If you are having an issue with the PSC 1315 printing an alignment page then read the solution in this thread and/or refer to your user manual.

I thought it worked, but now my printer won't turn on!!  Help!!

By George I think it worked!!  Thanks!  Some "fake" HP site wanted to charge me $170.00 for this solution that "could only be done remotely" yesterday.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Brilliant, this method to prevent the alignment page being printed every time my PSC 1410 is switched on works fine. Now it does it just when the ink cartridge is changed!

I have a Deskjet 3050A which gives me the same problem.  Why design a printer that requires a constant "Power-on" state in order to maintain alignment?  This shows a complete lack of consideration for the potential environmental impact (not to mention my electricity bill).  Besides which, it actually is plugged into a surge-protected mains socket, it's only off because it turned itself off.

This seems to work but after so many frustrating attempts to correct this fault I am not yet fully convinced that it will work long-time. I wil post further after using it for a few days.

No, unfortunately this procedure did not work and solve the problem. However I have since found that the very detailed problem solving advice by HP regarding alignment page printing has apparently solved my problem. This seems to have been due to the cartridges needing cleaning together with their internal receptors. Plus also re-powering the printer with a diferent socket outlet. So for now this has a last worked, I still need to see it working over the next few days as I have had quite a few false dawns with solutions.

I totally side up with kara46's opinion and frustration on alignment issue. It's extremely annoying and off putting of your product! I'm very loyal to HP, have bought 4 PC's in the past and use psc 1317 all-in-one printer for years. I gave numerous positive reviews on your website and always blow the horns to everyone who'll listen about HP products and HP support website.
But lately, since changing the cartridge I had aligned at least 40 pages (wasted ink and paper!!!) and I couldn't print as well when I needed because every time when I was switching on the printer it immediately was printing the test page. I resorted to use your HPPIW software few times to fix the problem as my printer was creating paper queue but wasn't printing and I wasn't able to clear the queue. But it wasn't sorting out the alignment issue.

I uninstalled and installed the printer but it went wrong as printer wasn't detected and installation wasn't completed.

So I needed to go through restoring process! Such a waste of time!!! Not to mention my nerves.

All this happened because you didn't post on the support page for the printer the solution for this problem. It's so SIMPLE!!! But if you don't know how to go about it - you can go crazy. I was considering already to bin the printer. Luckily I have found the solution through google!

Is it really DIFFICULT to update your support page and give clear instructions to sufferers? Especially as I can see this is a very common problem.

This has taken care of the problem!  Thank You very much as this was extremely frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I AM REALLY FURIOUS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.
THERE SHOULD BE A HACK TO GET RID OF THIS NAGGING TROUBLE.
I DON´T SEE ANY REASON TO ALIGN THE **bleep** CARTRIDGE AS THE PRINTING IS VERY SHARP AND PRECISE.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU REALLY MADE SOMETHING VERY ANNOYING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS.
