I have had this printer for several years and have always been able to do automatic duplex printing.  Suddenly (after a Windows update - may be a coincidence) I am only able to duplex manually.  Somehow, the automatic feature has been uninstalled.  I have removed the printer and re-installed the driver but that did not change anything.  Can anybody help?

@Mar19, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Not exactly.  I followed your instructions but never got the prompt for "windows update".

I uninstalled and re-installed several times - using the link you included as well as other sources.  Eventually I was able to install it with the Automatic Duplexing Unit installed, but I am unclear as to what I did differently to accomplish that.

And I still do not understand why it uninstalled itself in the first place, or why the other 'installs' did not include that feature.

Thank you for your assistance anyway. At least it sent me down a successful path
