HP Envy 4500 Series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Due to the fact that HP Solution Center definitively doesn't work because "Flash Player" has been uninstalled by Microsoft , I use HP Print and Scan Doctor to be able to know the ink levels of my HP Envy 4500 series. All goes well, until HP Print and Scan Doctor decided to upgrade to 5.6.2. So now , the software is in the state of "Communicating with HP Envy 4500 Series" at 99% and did not finish.

Note: the Printer is on USB connection.

@RayNet, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

If there is an issue with the HP Print and Scan Doctor, the only troubleshooting step is to update it or reinstall it. If you have done both, you will have to wait until HP releases an update.

To check the estimated ink levels on your printer, go to Ink Levels on the printer control panel.

  1. On the printer control panel, press the Home button  to open the Home screen.

  2. Press the Down Arrow  to select Ink Levels, and then press OK. The control panel displays the estimated ink levels.
  3. The circle is color and the bowtie is black.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
