macOS 10.14 Mojave

My company computer installed Windows updates and it stopped recognizing my Laserjet mfp 130. So I started to print wirelessly from my MacBook with no issues until the printer was perpetually « offline ». I tried restarting a few times which didn’t help and now I now have a firmware corrupt error I can’t bypass on restart of the printer. I saw the steps mentioned in other posts re plugging it in directly to the wall and resetting it, etc. But that didn’t work either. What is my next step?

Hi @Alicston

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Dealing with a firmware corrupt error on your HP LaserJet MFP 130 can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can try to resolve the issue. Here's a step-by-step guide.

Power Cycle:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds to a minute.
  • Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on.

Connect Directly:

  • Connect the printer directly to your computer using a USB cable. This can help eliminate any wireless communication issues.

Reset the Printer:

  • While the printer is on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord.

Update Firmware:

  • Visit the official HP support website for your printer model.
  • Check for firmware updates and download the latest firmware.
  • Follow the instructions provided by HP to update the firmware.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • On your computer, uninstall the printer drivers associated with the HP LaserJet MFP 130.
  • Reinstall the latest drivers from the official HP website.

Check Wireless Connection:

  • If you're still having issues with wireless printing, ensure that the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • Reconfigure the wireless settings if needed.

Factory Reset:

  • As a last resort, you may need to perform a factory reset on the printer. This will erase all settings, so use this option carefully.
  • Refer to your printer manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
