HP LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw

After a software update my HP laserjet is stuck in a cycle associate with error code 79 which asks for the printer to be turned off and then on. After trying this several times and leaving it off for a whole day it’s still stuck in a cycle where it initializes, try’s to connect to WiFi then goes back to the error. I also tried resetting the WiFi per hp support recommendation.

@CW34, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print due to this error. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Perform the following steps to resolve the error from the printer control panel.

  1. Disconnect the printer from the network.

    • If on wired network: Unplug the Ethernet cable from the back of the printer.

    • If on wireless network: Power off the router.

  2. Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds, and turn on the printer.

If the printer is in ready state, disable the IPv6 feature from the control panel as follows:

    1. Go to Setup, then Network Setup, and then Network Services.

    2. Tap IPv6, and then Off.
  3. Turn off the printer, wait for 30 seconds.

  4. Turn on with the network connection enabled.

  5. Try printing.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
