HP Envy 6000 Series

When I hit File> Print, MacOS Yosemite finds the printer and attempts to print but gets the message, THE PRINTER IS NOT CONNECTED.  But it is connected.  Blue Wireless symbol is lit up on printer and it does print from a different computer (Mac Air Ventura)

Hi @jond123,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering issues with your HP Envy 6000 Series printer on MacOS Yosemite, despite the printer being connected and functional on another Mac, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check Printer Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Mac.
  • Verify that there are no issues with the wireless connection on your Mac.

Printer Software and Drivers:

  • Make sure that you have the latest printer software and drivers installed on your Mac. Visit the HP website to download and install the most recent drivers for your printer model.

Restart Printer:

  • Power off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes resolve communication issues.

Restart Mac:

  • Restart your Mac to ensure that any temporary software glitches are cleared.

Reset Printing System:

  • Go to "System Preferences" on your Mac.
  • Select "Printers & Scanners."
  • Right-click on the list of printers and select "Reset printing system."
  • Re-add your printer afterward.

Check Firewall Settings:

  • Make sure that your Mac's firewall settings are not blocking the printer communication. You can adjust these settings in "System Preferences" > "Security & Privacy" > "Firewall."

Printer Queue:

  • Open the Print Queue by going to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners" and double-clicking on your printer.
  • Check if there are any stuck print jobs. If yes, clear the print queue.

Printer Software Updates:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Check the HP website for any available firmware updates for your printer model.

Different User Account:

  • Try printing from a different user account on your Mac to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is specific to your user account.

HP Smart App:

  • Consider using the HP Smart app to manage and troubleshoot your printer. It can help diagnose and resolve common printing issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
