I have run all of the diagnostics (printer status report, printhead cleaning, alignment, etc) and on all of them the colors print fine, but the black won't print AT ALL. I have also replaced the cartridge.
Is it the printhead? How can I get this resolved so I can print again??????
Thanks!

This is a serious problem HP. I've been using your printers for 10 years now. This printer would be great without this black ink issue. Please help. I use it to make iron-on transfers and am stuck. I've had this happen with this printer before and then the problem inexplicably fixed itself. It's doing it to me again today.

A work-around solution I have found to work for me is... Select premium hp photo paper and select maximum dpi in the settings menu. This works for me (although not the most cost effective solution in most cases).

Same problem here. This is actually my second printer of this model--only because it was "free" after the first one broke from a different problem--but now I think I've learned my lesson. VERY frustrating, it just printed properly yesterday morning, and now, no black. All cartridges have ink, almost full, but I already knew that wasn't the issue. There is definitely some defect with this model, aside from all the gyrations it does before it will spit out your printed page. What a shame, HP usually makes a reliable product, we always get their computers. I wish they'd go back to making the 1220 (or was it 1120?). THAT was a great wide format printer, with rear access so you could feed just about any kind of paper in it. I miss that one.
They should spend time correcting this problem instead of setting up format options for a discussion forum post. . . . . . . . . . .
PS: I once saw a fix where if you left the black cartridge out for 24 hours & put it back, it will work. That DID work one time for me, but not today. Gonna try again though. The other suggested work-around solution did not work for me.

I am having the same problem too. Even purchased a new print head - and trying brand new cartridges, only to have them work for a few days and then once again no black print. I have always purchased HP printers, but this will be my last. Has anyone found a solution yet? And like someone else said - I miss the 1220 - that was a great work horse printer!

Hi; the OJ 7000 uses 920 cartridges and print heads. From your description it sounds like you have an ink system error.
