Hi PrintDoc

Regarding your suggested solution posted a few messages earlier in the thread - getting the latest 10.5.x Mac OS was not making any difference for me.  Could only print using USB, not wireless.

The solution i finally found was to upgrade my OS to the next version (most recent) Snow Leopard (Mac OS 10.6.x) - and also just added the printer using the Sys Prefs, Print & Fax area '+' button  (i.e. I gave up trying to install it using the HP installer itelf which seemed to keep failing to get the wireless step to work)

That finally allowed me to print (most of the time) using Wireless.  Occasionally it fails, but an on/off switch on the printer seems to reset it, and if i resend the print job it usually works 2nd time round.

Wanted to post my solution in case that helps others with the same problems.

Regards

Cameron

Hi Guys,

I'm having the same problem here. Can't print via wireless (USB works fine).

My PC is W7 x64

My ISP is fiber

Encryption type is WPA2

Any help?

Imac OSX 10.6.7 I bought HP deskjet 3050. Installed everything with the cd. PC asked for update, I got it. Intalled it with USB.

Evrything is well till I reach the point where I have to install the printer. The pc recognices the printer, than looks for the network settings. I get the message that I have a WEP password. That's incorrect. I have a WPA- personal password. I can not change the WEP setting. I can print by using the cable. But de printer remains inactive.

What to do?

Can you change any of the router's settings?  Is the router supplied by your ISP?

WEP is not in the least secure and can cause connection issues with wireless printers.  Is there any way to change it or get a new router?

Debra,

What version of OS X?  What router?  Have you tried installing the printer using the HP software?

i am currently running 10.7.1 on my mac and the installation disk says that it needs to be version 10.6 or lower to print wireless... is there anyway to get around this problem?

Get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
