All the color cartridges work, but the black one does not print out.  I changed the cartridge but it didn't help.  I've cleaned the cartridges using the set-up key, but to no avail.  What do you suggest?

If this is a Photosmart c309 or Officejet 6500 series printer I would suggest soaking the printhead as described in my post in this thread 01-03-2011 07:04 PM (PST).

Hi,

I have a C5180. It will not print any black. Even not on the copy modus without the pc on. Bought today a new cardridge, ( 363) and still noth working. Do I have to throw my C5180 all in one out of the window? Please help me.

The printer doesn't give any errors.

In answer to my question you told me to go to your posting of 1-03-10?  Can't seem to locate it.   In fact, can't find any January postings from you.

Meanwhile, will you please tell me what to soak the printhead in;  for how long; and how do I dry it?

Please advise.

Thanks!

The post I was referring to is here.  Soak the printhead in clean hot water for five minutes, then remove the printhead and dry the contacts with a lint free cloth or tissue.

My black ink stopped in the middle of a project.  I have replaced all the cartridges with new ones.  I tried a Q-tip on the tip as was suggested.  I am not getting any results.

Mr Bob Headrick,

I think pauldavid should be very grateful for your personal attention to his problem.

as to others posted in this thread - just hang out to dry, maybe the problems are too trivial to warrant such help.

I have bought 2 separate black ink cartridges today and neither is working!! Not to mention, the last one I pulled out still had ink in it. I could here it when I shook it.

HP 7000 Wide format printer, with all brand new, full HP cartridges. In the past, the black ink has failed to print properly, just a faint background gray for the text. Cleaning the printhead has always solved the problem. Today, the black ink would not print,  and using the cleaning and deep cleaning utilities did nothing except use up a lot of colored ink, no black. I physically cleaned the printheads with a cotton Q-tip, re-assembled and tested again - only color, no black print. This evening I ran your troubleshooting program download, and got all green indications, no problems. Attempted another test page, and this one is completely blank, no color, no black.

What gives????
