Hi,
To get a new print head goto hp.com/support and get the 800 number at the top of the screen.
Call the number and talk to a guy with an Indian accent. It will take an hour or so to get through the BS but he can send one out to you after he gets permission and an order number. You could try to get him to call you back with the info and save 30 minutes of bad music.
Good luck

We have a similar problem but ALL of our color cartridges are not working. Should we try this too? It seems to me that they would not all by clogged. We own a photosmart plus b209a. Do you have another suggstion?

I purchased both new black and color ink cartridges for my officejet J4680. I installed the cartridges properly but did not use the alignment page. Now it only prints RED and NOT black. Was it because the alignment page was not scanned? What do I do next?? I am clueless. Please need answers asap. thanks

Help please, I have tried every troubleshoot idea two or three times.
I have an HP PHotosmart Plus B209a-m
Using Window Vista, Black ink cartridge if a few weeks old.
Was working fine last week
sometimes the pages are completely blank
sometimes I get some printing but in a light gray tone. Ex: The outline of a table on a PDF will print but the contents will not print. So I see two columns of boxes (light gray) but the content will not print.
Thank you

I did try the soaking solution at the beginning of this thread (page 1). It seems to have worked for now. I had to run the cleaner several times. Now I am almost out of ink, but hopefully the problem is solved.

I'd like to add to this every-growing list of calls for help from HP. I have Officejet 6500 that just stopped using the magenta ink. I printed 4 photos, and the 5th was bad. I replaced the magenta cartridge, even though the one I had was relatively new and I NEW was more than half-full. Still no magenta.
My brother has a 4500 and there is no, or very little, black ink. I've cleaned the print heads with no change. I have not tried the 6500 disassembly and clean option because I'm not home. Regardless, as a consumer/user I should NOT ever need to do this. I have googled a lot of forums and all I get are complaints and no answers. Clearly this is a systemic problem and there should be a clear answer from HP. HP, please offer somthing better than hot water and Q-tips, which seems to be working for no one. I'm within the warranty, maybe. But I don't want to have to go down that path...

Hi DeYoungm
You're having an issue with all of your color cartridges not working, right?
Are the ink levels good? Do you get any color when you print a Diagnostic Test?

Hi brendaplotner
You're having an issue with black not printing on a PS C8180, right?
Have you tried cleaning & aligning the printheads?

Hi LancasterJL
Did any Magenta show up on the self test report? Did you run a Clean Print Cartridge Utility?

I'm having problems with my black ink too. I have the photosmart D110 series, and have only had it about six months. I have done the cartridge cleaning and the alignment. Since the black ink wont print the alignment wont work in the scanning phase. I have had printers for several years at a time and never had this issue. I think maybe all the test pages that seem to need to be done whenever we try to print anything may have worn it out.
Since this is happening on so many different models I am wondering if the problem might be with the HP printer cartridges themselves. Is there something in the cartridges themselves that might cause this? Having the printer serviced seems a waist of money, since buying a new one would be cheaper, would have to go with another brand of printer though to avoid this issue again it seems.
