Getting an error code after the printer has been on for about 45 minutes," 49. FF81 Error turn off then on" any ideas?

I just bought brand new M3035 MFP, and got same error code with "turn off then on" message. I turned it off and on, this error code pops up again after a while.

The exact same thing is happening to me with my brand new M3035 MFP. Error 49.FF81 pops up after about 30-40 minutes of usage. Turn device off & on again and it works for the same amount of time. Repeat problem.

 

I can't find anything on HP's website that is specific to this model of printer. There are some instructions for other models:

Nothing for the M3035 though.

 

Does anyone from HP read these forums and offer solutions?

Got the problem fixed finally, after being on the phone with HP for two hours they said they would send a new hard drive kit, I had to install the hard drive myself with no instructions from HP, I was able to figure out how to take the right side pannell off and the hard drive holder is towards the front, installed the hard drive and problem solved.

We purchased FOUR M3035's a month ago and ALL have this ERROR. Two continue to have this error within 15 minutes of sitting idle. Really pathetic product. Should have just bought a cheap set of Brother MFPs. Waiting to hear from HP and also waiting to see if a full Hard Disk initialization helps.

 

Just completed an initialization of the HDs on two units AND uploaded the latest Firmware. System still locks up on the menus, BUT, the FF81 error has not shown up..... yet.

 

Well, spoke too soon. Error has reappeared. Will have to wait for new hard drives. There must have been a huge batch of faulty HDs that went into these systems. Surprising how HP has not had a recall on the systems.

I also have a problem with my HP LaserJet M1522nf. When I give a print command of 10 pages, there is only 1 page printing. What should I do?

Both the M3035 MFP and the M1522nf are commercial printers. I suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support for a better chance at finding a solution.

I spent the past hour on hold with HP customer support. First they had me download the firmware update from this page:

The update was successfully installed, but then the support tech checked HP's documents on this printer and discovered that the Western Digital hard drives in these printers are faulty. The suggestion was to open up the back of the printer, unplug the SATA cable from the WD HD, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in.

 

We'll see if that works. If it doesn't, they're shipping out a new hard drive.

I'm getting the same error message as well: 49.FF81, description only indicates: Device Error. Kind of curious to know if the fault hard drive was the culprit?

 

Printer is fairly new: HP LaserJet M3035 MFP Series 

 

Currently on Firmware: 48.181.8

 

Any information you can profide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Casey, I'm having the same problem, did you have to replaced the hard drive to get rid of the M3035 MFP 49.FF81 Error Code?
