I keep getting Unable to communicate with printer errors and cannot print. When I do I also notice I can no longer connect to the internet and have to reboot my compouter. None of this happened with my old HP 8000 wireless printer. I know my WIFI is working because I can still get e-mails. The status on my 8600 also indicated that the wireless is connected. My laptop is also unable to print at that time but the internet works. I was also getting Scan to Computer failures and turned that feature off on both the laptop and desktop. It's a real pain to reboot the computer to jet my Internet explorer and printer to work. Any ideas?

From our investigation into this issue, we have found a workaround that will help with this.
Follow the steps below.
1. Please go to Hp Software->Printer Preferences->Maintenance Tasks -> Advanced Settings
2. Selects the second radio under “Show Alerts”, “Only show me ink alerts when I print”.
3. Now restart your PC to make sure setting saved.
Find the screen shot attached.

I haven't yet tried the "workaround" from "prabaa". Does "workaround" mean that I'll be loosing some of the 8600 features? Also, I wanted to add that I have the same problem even without losing the Internet Connection, i.e., everything else works fine on my wireless network except for the printing function. I'm even able to print a Test Page by entering the IP address (starts with 192.******) of my printer in my browser URL.

Prabaa's solution works for me also. It's amazing that his solution hasn't been passed on to the scripts support techs at HP. I had a 3-hour chat session the other night which yielded nothing but frustration. There are so many "solutions" that, at best, lead to dead-ends and, at worse, to computer software damage. One of many solutions offered was to update the firmware without first asking me for my firmware version which, as it turns out, was the latest. I can go on and on...but I won't.
