hp laserjet 1020

Printer keeps printing multiple copies of a document when I've only had one to be printed.  I have to remove paper, delete job or turn off printer.  Then the job remains in the printter and won't let me cancel and have the printer work so I go to the services, printer spooler, hit stop, turn off printer and unplug for more than 1 minutes.  Help!

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand the HP Laserjet 1020 keeps printing numerous copies when all you need is one,

I'd love to help, however, to provide an accurate solution I need a few more details such as:

Which computer & operating system are you using with the printer?

When was the last time it worked? Have you attempted to reinstall drivers/update the firmware from HP support site?

Does the issue occur during a printer stand alone as well (Without using a computer)?

That said, if you are using windows OS and a computer to print, here's what you could do to resolve this issue:

From the Desktop, hold down the Windows key and press R.  Into the Run window, type services.msc and hit enter.  Browse down to the print spooler service, right-click it and select Properties then click on the Stop button.  Now browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS and delete the job inside this folder - You may need to click a prompt to gain the appropriate authority to open the PRINTERS folder.

Restart the computer and you should find the document & the issue has been removed.

If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,

Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!
