Turn the printer off.  Hold the # and 6 keys while and a bit after turning it back on.

Try a semi full reset.

1. Select "Return symbol, Home Symbol & Return symbol twice" symbols present to left of touch screen.
2. Wait for 30 seconds. You will receive "Support Menu".
3. Use Left or Right arrow to select "Resets Menu" and press OK.
4. Use left or Right arrow to select "Semi Full Reset" and press OK.

Note: You can find Home Symbol (Top), Arrow Symbol (Middle) and Return Symbol (Bottom) on the left side of the printer screen. They are not illuminated. Please observe keenly. Even though they are not illuminated, please press them as given in Step 1. Support Menu will appear on the printer screen.

Wow! This really worked! My printer was not working properly in either scanning or copying. The images came out all distorted. I pressed the buttons as you requested during the power-up and ta da! Fixed. Thank you so much!

Hello, I have an HP Photosmart Premium C309 Printer/scanner/fax. The small screen that shows all the functions is black. I can still scan and copy, but would like to have the screen back. How can I fix this? Thank you. Angela

With the printer ON, pull the power plug from the back of the printer for 30 seconds.
