My F4180 all-in-one won't scan/save docs as .pdf--it's not a choice in drop down list. I need jpeg. Should my printer do this, or do I need more software to translate? I have HP laptop with Windows XP.
Thanks in advance.

Hi mecf,
The software for your printer do provide PDF scanning capabilities.
I believe the OCR software was not installed, which the PDF relies on.
Please try the steps below and let me know if that helps:
- Insert the printer installation CD.
- Click Install Additional Software.
- Make sure to select the Read Iris OCR program and complete the installation.
Than you should see the PDF option available.
If you do not have the original CD, you may download the Full Software and follow the same directions:

Thank you so much! Can't believe the solution was so simple and this has been aggraving me for so long.
I do have one other question--when I scan a doc even though it is virtually always an 8.5 x 11 standard sized paper I always have to resize it because the scanner cuts down the area to be scanned to something less than 8.5 x 11, cutting something off.
Is there a fix for this? Is it normal?
Again, thank you so much for your help.
