I nave a Dell  Studio XPS Dewktop computer with Windows 8.1. I installed the latest version of the driver available on

HP website - IjM1319-hp-pnp-Win64-en.

The printer works; but not the scanner.

Any help will be most welcome.

Thanking you in advance

Welcome to the HP Forums Visva,

I see by your post that you can print but aren't able to scan on the Windows 8.1.
I can help you with this issue.

To rule out a communication issue, make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet.

(don't use a power hub or a surge protector)

The USB cable should be connected directly to the computer. (not a hub)

Temporarily turn off the Antivirus software to see if that is blocking the printer communication for scanning.

Check the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) services.

Windows: HP Scan Software Does Not Open or Scan on a Printer Using a USB Connection.

Disregard the title.

Go to Solution three: Check the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) services.

Test the scan again.

I have provided a document for setting up the Firewall to Allow a connection to the printer if the issue persists. Configuring a Firewall to Allow a Connection with the All-in-One in Windows.

If you need further assistance, please let me know the results.

Have a nice day! Smiley Happy
Thank You.

I tried everything that was suggested and ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor. It reported "This tool was unable to find the HP Scan Application Software on your computer.

Device amanager, WIA scan,  HP Twain scanwere ticked off.

Result - I am still unable to scan.

I might add that the HP Solutions Icon was also NOT added to the desktop

Thank you

Hi Visva,

Thanks for providing that information.

The WIA and the Twain drivers are working properly which was indicated through the PSDR.

I was checking out the drivers on the web page for the Laserjet m1319, they are a Plug and Play Driver.

It will install the printer and scan driver, but no additional software for Windows 8.1.

I have provided a document for How to Scan: Windows 8, select the link for How to scan without HP software.

You can scan with Windows Fax and Scan, Paint or a Twain-compliant program.

If you are still having issues, please provide the software you are using to scan with and what is happening. (error message)

Thank You.
