HP Office Jet5740
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

This Printer is currently not configured with a gateway address.

>Local Network

     --- Connected   PASS(wireless)

2.4ghz band

>gateway

     --- Configured         FAIL

     ---Accessible          Not run

All other tests were not run.

After connecting to the Embedded web server with the IP address provided by my printer and following IPv4 wireless (802.11) IP configuration, I was unable to successfully configure a gateway address.

Any help is greatly appreciated !!! 🙂

Hello, @JamesMarkwart – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for reaching out! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I understand that you are having trouble with the printer network connection. Going through, your post, I am not sure whether you are having trouble while installing the printer or if you are attempting some other operation. Please do let me know.

Since you are able to access the printer EWS, I suggest you assign a manual IP address and check. You can follow the steps below:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)

If the issue persists, try to restore the wireless defaults and then reconnect the printer to the network. You can go to the Setup of the printer and then access the Wireless / Network menu to restore the defaults.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Good luck 🙂
