I just bought the Deskjet 3050 and I am currently running Mac OSX 10.7 on my MacBook Pro. The setup disk won't work for 10.7 so how am I supposed to set up my printer to my wireless network and my computer? Thanks

OK, I don't know what is happening with the download. Let's go troubleshoot the manual process I outlined above.
Yes, you can type your wireless password into the router - it is the only way it is going to be able to join your network.
When you first turn on the printer (the very first time out of the box), the wireless network it broadcasts only broadcasts for either 40 or 60 minutes. Then it shuts off.
To re-start the broadcast, do step 1. in the instructions.

OK, well, things are not quite ready for prime time with Lion and this printer :).
Here is how to do it:
1. On the front of the printer, click the Wireless button, scroll down to Wireless Settings then Restore Defaults. Restore them.
2. On your Mac, connect to a wireless network that begins with "HP-Setup...."
3. Open System Preferences > Print & Scan and add a printer with the '+' sign at the bottom of the list of printers.
4. Find your printer and click Add.
5. Now, back on the Print & Scan page, with the 3050 highlighted, click on Options & Supplies, then on Show Printer Webpage
6. On the resulting page, click the Network tab, then start the Wireless Setup Wizard.
7. Start the wizard, connect it to your network by choosing it then typing the password.
8. When the printer verifies that it is connected to your network, close Safari and then close Print & Scan.
9. Connect your Mac back to your regular wireless network.
Now, when you first try to print something it will take a while to find the printer, but it will eventually connect and print.

Thanks for the feedback.
Out of curiosity:
1. Did you end up with two instances of the printer in your list of printers in System Prefs > Print & Scan?
2. Did you have to delete and re-add the printer after this process?
3. Can you scan from your Mac (using Image Capture in your Applications folder)?

Do you have HP software loaded for your 3050? Where did it come from? Was it labeled as being compatible with 10.6 (there is no 10.7 software on disc, yet, that is why I ask about it being labeled for 10.6)?

PrintDoc,
Thanks for the instructions, but at what point were we supposed to switch back to (#7) "your network". Mine doesn't show up in the list unless I switch over to it, but then I'm no longer connected to (#2) "HP-Setup....". Can you add a bit more detail? Thx
Am I to trust HP with the password to my network? Seems crazy to me.
Lastly, I tried to get through all the steps in the wizard, but then it says "Wireless communication is temporary disabled. Make sure that an Ethernet cable has not been connected to the printer Connecting an Ethernet cable turns off the printer's wireless capabilities." What's up?
Thanks for any help.

Well, good news is that you do not need to do this procedure now as hp just released the full software set for this printer and Lion. Get it from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.

PrintDoc,
Thanks, but I tried to download the latest driver and have had nothing but problems doing so. It simply never downloads The browser (both Safari and FF) just sits there loading or something and never actually downloads. What's up?
My specific printer is a J610a and need the driver for Lion 10.7.
Do you have a proven way for me to download the driver?
Thanks
