Issue:
Error code ‘ER 79’ shown on control panel display, printer can not do print/copy, shown as offline from computer/mobile device.
Solution:
Use the following steps to resolve the issue
- The issue will not happen if printer is connected to network with ethernet.
- If printer is connected with wireless, please follow below steps:
Steps for wireless connected printer
- Turn off the printer, remove the toner cartridge from the printer, and then wait for 30 seconds.
- Turn on the printer. After ER07 is shown on control panel, insert the toner cartridge.
- The printer should go back to the Ready mode.
- Press the Information (i) button to print the Printer Information Report. The report contains the printer IP address and printer PIN.
- Open a web browser from computer/mobile device in same network, enter the printer IP address to access the EWS page.
- Click System, and enter ‘admin’ as printer user name, printer PIN as password when pop window showing up.
- Go to Administration, click ‘Check Now’ button in printer update section to check for new FW update. Update the printer if new FW update is available
- Close the EWS page. The printer should recover now.
- If not able to update FW with EWS method, go to support.hp.com (link) to download the FW update Utility and update printer to the latest FW version.
