HP 7740 All-In-One Wide Format Printer.  This started today.  When sending a print job, a blue screen with the power symbol appears on the printer with code B8CF0FB8.  Get rid of it by unplugging and replugging the printer.  It happens again as soon as a print job is sent.

Hi @GummyBearsZ ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the blue screen error code B8CF0FB8 on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 indicates a printer malfunction. Here are some steps you can try to fix it:

Basic troubleshooting:

  1. Power cycle the printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary glitches.
  2. Check for physical issues: Ensure there are no paper jams or foreign objects inside the printer that might be obstructing its operation. Make sure the print carriage can move freely.
  3. Direct power connection: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet instead of a surge protector or power strip. This eliminates potential issues with the power supply.

Software updates:

  1. Update printer firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause glitches. Visit the HP website and download the latest firmware update for your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740. HP support website: Update the firmware on an HP printer
  2. Update printer drivers: Ensure your computer has the latest drivers installed for your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740. You can usually find these drivers on the HP website as well. Software and Drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 Wide Format All-in-One Printer

        3. Factory reset: If the above steps don't work, consider performing a factory reset on your printer. This will erase all custom settings and restore it to factory defaults. Consult your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 user manual for instructions on performing a factory reset.
