Have you tried installing a new print cartridge to see if the E will go away?

 

Sounds like you may have a defective cartridge.

I got mine to work by removing BOTH chartridges then putting them BOTH back in again at once.

Same problem. Check to the left. No kudos. Your reply was not very helpful, apparently. The lack of documentation for this product is pretty astonishing. I will not be buying an HP to replace this lousy product.

Thank you for advice, that works!

 

Press and hold the Cancel button and then press the On button. Release both buttons.

 

I did that,then 2 red lights blinking, but it started to print.

Printing an alignment page using the printer control panel

Press and hold the Cancel button and then press the On button. Release both buttons.
Press and release the Cancel button. 
Press and release the Copies button. 
Press and release the Paper Type (Photo) button. 
Press and release the Color Start Copy button. An alignment sheet prints. 

 

Step one: Print and time a test page
Follow these steps to print a test page:
Load plain paper in the tray.
Press and hold the Cancel button and then press the Start Copy Color button The self-test page prints.

As far as I know no one has gotten the steps you outlined to function. What a joke...!

I get the paper and ink light to flash as a result but that's it. No printing.
