Hello,
My, HP Ink Tank 315, printer has a problem: after replacing the print head, it started making a continuous quiet beeping sound. The beeping stops when I print or open the front door that leads to the print head. It never made this noise before. Also, the print head is on the right, whereas it used to be on the left. But prints correctly. Please tell me if it is normal. If it is not normal, I would be glad if you could help me.
Thanks in advance!

Hi @nnnsin,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A continuous quiet beeping sound from your HP Ink Tank 315 printer after replacing the print head can be concerning, especially when it was not present before. Here are some possible causes and steps you can take to address the issue:
1. Check Print Head Installation
Verify Print Head Position:
- Ensure that the print head is properly installed and securely seated. It should be positioned correctly in the designated slot.
- If the print head has moved to the right, it might not be installed correctly. Refer to the printer’s manual to ensure it is in the proper position.
Reinstall the Print Head:
- Turn off the printer and open the front door to access the print head.
- Carefully remove the print head and then reinsert it, ensuring it is properly aligned and seated.
2. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions
Inspect for Paper Jams:
- Open all accessible doors and check for any paper jams or foreign objects that might be causing the beeping sound.
Clear Obstructions:
- Make sure there are no obstructions in the paper path or around the print head area.
3. Check Printer Settings and Status
Review Printer Status:
- Check the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app for any error messages or status updates that might explain the beeping.
Printer Settings:
- Verify that there are no settings related to print head maintenance or calibration that might be causing the beeping.
4. Perform a Printer Reset
Power Cycle:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Reset Printer (if applicable):
- If your printer model supports a reset option, perform a factory reset through the printer’s settings menu. This will restore the printer to default settings.
5. Update Printer Firmware
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Visit the HP Support website or use the HP Smart app to check for any firmware updates available for your printer.
Install Updates:
- Follow the instructions to update the firmware if an update is available.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
