I'm using an 8500 Pro Wireless (A909g) on Windows 7 machine.  I'm trying to set up the Scan to Network Folder feature.

Problem is this: I dno't have a Windows password set up.  In this case, the printer cannot log onto my computer.  If I set a password on my PC, and then edit the scan to network settings for this password, then it can connect.

I don't want to have a password on my PC and would like the printer to log on to it this way. I tried deleting the profile and re-adding it.  Still no luck.

Any help?

I solved it.

Two things to check.

1) Under Advanced Sharing Options (Network & Sharing Center --> Homegroups and Sharing options --> advanced sharing options....) -- Password Protected Sharing has to be OFF

2) For the folder that you are wanting to share and have scans saved to, right click, properties, security.  You need to add "NETWORK" as a user and make sure its set to READ/WRITE.

That fixed it for me.

What about Windows XP?  I have the same situation!

Any solutions for the XP users?  I had this working, and then I had to reinstall the OS.  Now I am trying to set it up again, but it doesn't connect.  Part of the problem is that the instructions are poor for identifying where the folder is.  The tree shown (\\mypc\sharedfolder) doesn't make any sense.

Hi

try this

Goto the HP office jet pro desktop icon,  choose the Scan to Network Folder wizard in the Scaner Actions title. When you get to the window that asks you to select a new network folder  click the browse button and pick Make a new folder . After you put a name  right click and goto Sharing and security, and check box the "share this folder on the network" and  "Allow network users to changee my files" click apply and then ok. Change the name in the "enter a name for this folder to appear on theprinter control pannel" this is important because if you don´t you ll get an error message. Then click next. in the next screen checkbox the "share this folder with everyone" option. Leave the password  space blank and click next. Then you ll get a warning message form the network folder setup wizard click yes. Save and test it

Good luck

Re: OJ 8500: Scan to Network Folders - invalid username/password with no password.

Hi have is this issue on a MAC.  I got the Network Folder loaded into the Network Folder Setup, not I get a Incorrect Credentials error.  Is the User Name and Passwork suppose to be the WiFi or the PC's credentials?
