Printer Squeak Officejet 6500 E710n

My Officejet 6500 Plus E710n is about two weeks old.  It has developed a very unpleasant high-pitched squeak when the print head is moving.  This happens after printing about 3 pages. 

I fear unexpected high loads will lower print quality and cause the printer to wear out early.  And, the high pitched scream is very annoying.

I purchased the HP 6500A Plus e and it sqeaked horribly. I returned it and they gave me a different one of the same model.

Now it has started to squeak also. I have NOT run more than 50 sheets of paper thru either printer so I don't think the volume of printing has anything to do with the squeaking. I will return this and see if they can lubricate the squeak away. Good luck!

I have exactly the same problem, it is driving my co-workers nuts and is certainly turning them off of the HP product. 

I appreciate it is a lower end unit (6500) but the squeak makes it virtually unusable. It emanates throughout our office.

Started posting in another topic, but this one seems to be more recent.

Also having the same issue with the HP Officejet 6500A Plus, two weeks old.  A high pitch squeak that almost sounds like a mouse running through it.  Would cleaning the metal rod the print head is moving along with say, WD-40, help out?

I had the same problem!  I tried putting a small amount of lube on the guide rod for the print head but

that did not help.  I finally isolated the squeak to the small wheel that holds the right hand end of the

small toothed belt that moves the print heads back and forth.   Be careful not to get the lube on anything else

or you may cause other issues.  I used a silicone lube designed for garage door tracks since it is thicker than

most lubes and is easier to keep from getting all over the inside of the printer.

This problem also seems to plague the 6600 printer. My brand new one has squeaked severely since the day I bought it - and I am about to try opening it and carefully lubricating the right wheel of the belt system. We'll see.

Was having the same problem with my HP Officejet 6600.  This is a squeak/squeal worthy of throwing the printer off a balcony and never buying an HP printer ever again.  HP PLEASE HEAR US AND POST AN OFFICIAL SOLUTION TO THIS DESIGN FLAW!  I went to Home Depot and quickly found the garage door spray lubricant the original problem solver recommended.  I came home, opened the front cover of my 6600, waited for the cartridge carrier to move to the left and then sprayed the thin, toothed, rubber belt off to the right (the right end of the "paper feeding bar" if you will).  Voila!  Squeal gone.  Thank goodness!  Now I can print without waking up everyone in the house.
