I'm trying to print from my Chromebook to my HP Officejet Pro 8500A via a USB. I've been able to do this with no problem for several years, but now as soon as I hit print, the printer displays a message that says "Print cancelled." The printer is able to print test pages. Any help would be appreciated; I truly don't understand why this is happening.

I understand you are not able to print from your Chromebook. If you are able to print test pages, it means the printer hardware is working fine.

 

Check for any updates available for the Chromebook.
